How to Slow down/Speed Up a Video for Free using Shotcut

Hello everyone, today I will show you a tutorial on how to change speed of a video using Shotcut.

Shotcut is a free and open source video editing software. It supports hundreds of audio and video formats and codecs thanks to FFmpeg.

It also has a lot of build in features including the one we need for this tutorial, speed changer.

Before I continue this tutorial, you can watch the full tutorial right here:

Or you can continue reading this tutorial.

1. Download and install Shotcut. You can download it right here:
2. After you finished step 1, open the software.
3. Import the video you wanted to speed up or slow down.
4. Click the 'Properties' tab.

5. In here you can change the selected video's speed.

6. Done! You did it. You changed the speed of the video!
7. Export the video by clicking the 'Export' tab besides the 'Properties' tab

Note: Shotcut requires a powerful laptop/computer to avoid lags. If you want a lightweight Video Editing software I recommend Windows Movie Maker or Videopad.

Note: I don't recommend using Shotcut to change a video speed because the results are bad if you're speeding it up more than 2x. It will chop ups some frames and the results are choppy video not a smooth time lapse.
I recommend using Windows Movie Maker instead. The result from Windows Movie Make is way WAY better and smoother.
